Co-Founder Statement

In July 2019, I embarked on what would unknowingly be my final holiday support service before the global COVID-19 pandemic reshaped the world. That journey also marked a heartfelt farewell to Mr. N, whose passing in 2020 left a deep and lasting impact on me — both personally and professionally.

Over the years, I had the privilege of supporting numerous cruise holidays across the Mediterranean — from the scenic shores of Sicily and Corfu to the fjords of Norway, the heart of Italy, Barcelona, Rome, and the iconic Vatican. Whether sailing beyond the Sicilian valleys or exploring historic landmarks like the Sagrada Família, I was honoured to assist vulnerable adults in continuing to enjoy the experiences they loved, despite their health challenges.

Mr. N, in particular, had a deep passion for travel, taking holidays every three to six months. Supporting him was more than a role — it was a journey filled with purpose, joy, and connection that profoundly shaped my understanding of care and companionship.

From 2019 to 2021, I dedicated myself fully to supporting Dr. S, placing the early development of the Cotswold Rural Support Workers organisation on hold. Working alongside Dr. S offered exceptional one-to-one, person-centred clinical training, especially in managing complex care scenarios with dignity and compassion. He often reminded me:
“Never forget the locals. Always make a difference amongst the locals — and give back.”
Those words continue to shape the core values of our organisation today.

Between 2022 and 2024, my focus remained on one-to-one support work under various organisations — a period of continued learning, personal growth, and hands-on experience. Despite my ongoing commitment to care, these responsibilities delayed the formal incorporation of Cotswold Rural Support Workers.

In early 2024, Mr. S offered me words I’ll never forget:
“I think you are ready to stand alone — you keep limiting yourself. I will be gone soon.”
His encouragement marked a turning point. It gave me the strength to finally bring to life the vision I had long held for this organisation — to build a community-rooted support service that reflects the values of compassion, dignity, and local impact.

Cotswold Rural Support Workers was formally founded in 2024 — not just as a professional milestone, but as a continuation of the legacy, lessons, and love that shaped my path.
